Ali Askar Lali

Ali Askar Lali (c. 1957) is a former Afghan national football player and coach. In 1981, he came as a refugee on Iran to Germany and lived for many years in Paderborn. He now lives in Germany and Afghanistan.

As a coach, is currently involved Lali on a project of the Foreign Office to promote Afghan women's football and trains the Afghan women's national team. Holger Obermann, he is also responsible also for building the Afghan national football team of men.

Career

Lali is valid in Afghanistan as a kind of Afghan Beckenbauer. He was in the 70s, one of the central figures of the Afghan National Team. After his escape, he was active in Germany for TuS Schloss Neuhaus, Delbrücker SC and VfL Lichtenau as a player. As a coach, he was responsible for, among other TuRa Elsen, VfL Lichtenau and Türk Gücü Paderborn. In 2003, he returned as far only known former national player back to Afghanistan but without Germany to abandon entirely to live.
