Ali Atalan

Atalan Ali ( born January 5, 1968 in Midyat, Turkey) is a German politician.

Biography

Ali Atalan grew up in a jesidisch - Kurdish family and came to Germany in 1985. After high school he studied at the Ruhr- University Bochum political science and sociology and completed his studies with a degree in social sciences.

In Dülmen he was a member from 1990 to 1994 the Social Committee of the Council. From 1998 to 2001 he worked for the Alliance 90/The Greens and since 2001 he is member of the Left Party.

From 2004 to 2010 he was a member of the Council of the City of Münster from 2009 in the Group of the Left Party. From 2010 to 2012, he was a member of the Landtag NRW in the 15th legislative period. After his entry into the state legislature, he resigned his council seat.
