Ali Karimi

Mohammad Ali Karimi Pashaki ( born November 8, 1978 in Tehran ) is an Iranian football player.

Career

Clubs

Karimi started his professional career in the 1998/99 season at Persepolis after Ali Parvin, the then coach of the team, was aware of him at an indoor tournament. For a transfer fee of the equivalent of U.S. $ 15,000 Parvin obliged the fledgling Karimi by the then second division side Fath Tehran. After a few games, he became a crowd favorite. He was in two consecutive seasons (1998/ 99 and 1999 /00) with the Iranian top club Persepolis Iranian masters. In the 1999/00 season he also won the Iranian Cup with his club. He scored 13 goals in 68 league games for Persepolis.

For the 2001/02 season Karimi moved to the United Arab Emirates to Al -Ahli. There, too, he was chosen for its goals, assists and spectacular dribbling a crowd favorite in a very short time. In the 2003 /04 season he was with Al -Ahli Cup winner. After four years, 85 games and 49 goals, and the election of the Asian Player of the Year Karimi left for the season 2005/ 06, the UAE and signed with FC Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga. Karimi started very strong at his new club and knew most of the critics to convince. In his first season he was both German champion and cup winner with the German record champion Bayern Munich.

Due to an injury to his ankle in spring 2006 and a disappointing performance with the Iranian selection at the 2006 World Cup he could not find his form and repeat his strong performance at the beginning of his obligation. For the German record champions Karimi scored in 42 competitive games and four goals were four assists.

In July 2007 he moved to Qatar SC, but he again left end of the season after 27 games and 5 goals. Initially provided in 2008/ 09 and 2009/10 for Al - Sailiya, he decided, however, for a return to his favorite club, the Iranian giants Persepolis. 1 July 2009, Karimi joined Steel Azin FC and scored 14 goals in his first season in 28 games. Karimi played his first international match for the Iranian national football team on 13 October 1998 in a friendly match against Kuwait national football team against which he in Thailand in 1998 scored his first international goal and on 19 December 1998 in the final of the Asian Games. Furthermore Karimi took with Iran at the Asia Cup 2000, Asia Cup 2004, Asia Cup 2007 and at the 2006 World Cup in Germany in part. For the Asian Cup 2011, he was not taken into account after a disagreement with coach Afshin Ghotbi. November 6, 2012, Karimi played under coach Carlos Queiroz have been last match, which was won in Tehran 6-1 against Tajikistan.

Karimi was one of six players who aufliefen in World Cup qualifier after the Iranian presidential elections in 2009 against South Korea in Seoul with green bracelets. This was seen in Iran as siding with the opposition.
