Ali Murtopo

Ali Murtopo ( Indonesian spelling: Moertopo; born September 23, 1924 in Blora, Central Java; † 15 MAY 1984 Jakarta ) was an Indonesian General and a major political figure during the first half of the reign of Suharto.

Ali's political influence increased with the takeover of Suharto in 1967. Consequently, Ali was deputy chief of the Indonesian military intelligence Bakin. His influence is especially things of his membership in Suharto's narrower circle of advisers owed, the Aspri so-called, and his role as leader of the Opsus, a special unit of the secret service, about the only Suharto stood.
