Ali Sayad Shirazi

Ali Sayyad Shirazi (also Seyyed Ali Shirazi, Persian علی صیاد شیرازی; born May 13, 1944 in Kabud gonbad, Iran, † 10 April 1999 in Tehran ) was Chief of Staff of the Iranian armed forces.

During the Iran -Iraq war Shirazi became one of the highest ranking generals of Iran. After the September 29, 1981 crashed a Lockheed C- 130 of the Iranian Air Force on the flight back from the front with the entire military top brass of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini appointed him commander of the land forces of the Iranian army. He died in 1999 in an attack that was probably perpetrated by the Volksmodschahedin.
