The Aeropuerto de Alicante - Elche or Aeropuerto El Altet is an international commercial airport in the Spanish province of Alicante, Valencia region in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. The airport is located southwest of Alicante at El Altet ( municipality of Elche ) and is therefore also called Aeropuerto El Altet.

Importance

The location on the Costa Blanca makes the Airport has become a major destination points for flights to Spain. In the passenger statistics for all Spanish airports Is he after Madrid -Barajas, Barcelona -El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Gran Canaria in sixth place.

Terminals

The airport currently has two terminals. The Nueva Área Terminal (NAT) was opened after years of construction time on 24 March 2011 and initially takes the total passenger traffic, ie the old terminal 1 and 2 are closed, but available for a possible reopening. Inaugurated in March 2007, extension of the old Terminal 1 was built for low-cost, because the extension does not have jetways, but only on two simple staircases to the apron.

Approach

The airport is about 9 km south of Alicante near the national road N-332 ( Carretera Cartagena -Alicante -Valencia ) and is of all coastal locations on the Autovia del Mediterráneo A-7 ( from the north as an alternative to Alicante coastal highway Autopista AP -7 (toll road ) and Autovia A-70 ) within easy reach.

Public transport: Approx. every 40 minutes for buses to Alicante or Benidorm (journey time approx 45 minutes). In the immediate vicinity of the airport also is the railway station Estación de Renfe - Torrellano. From here, trains run about every hour in the direction of Alicante ( north ) and towards Murcia (south). Recently, there is a new bus line C- 6, which runs every 20 minutes to Alicante. The journey time should be 30 minutes.
