Alice Powell

Alice Powell (born 26 January 1993 at Oxford, England) is a British auto racing driver. 2012 and 2013 Powell launched in the GP3 Series.

Powell is the first woman to chose a Formula Renault championship.

Career

Powell began her motorsport career in 2001 at the age of eight years in karting, where it was active until 2008. In 2007, she also issued her debut in GT racing. She was 17th in the Ginetta GT Junior Championship. In 2008, she remained in this series and finished four races on the podium. In the overall ranking, it achieved the ninth place. 2009 Powell moved to Formula racing and started for Manor Competition in the British Formula Renault. With two tenth places for the best results they occupied at the end of the season 18th overall. In addition, Powell took part in a race weekend of the Formula Palmer Audi and was 25th overall.

2010 was the racing driver in the Formula Renault BARC Hill for speed at the start. With a win at Silverstone, it became the first woman to win a Formula Renault race. With another victory they secured the championship title of the BARC Formula Renault. Powell is the first racer who chose a Formula Renault championship. They also competed in some races in the British Ginetta G50 Cup and took part in the winter series of the British Formula Renault. 2011 Powell returned to Manor Competition back in the British Formula Renault. With a fourth place as best result they finished the season in ninth place overall. Her two teammates Josh Hill and Jordan King occupied the two seats in front of her. In addition, she participated in several races in touring car, in the Northern European Formula Renault and the inter Steps Championship and went on to individual events. When MRF Formula 1600 Delhi Championship, it achieved two podium finishes in two races.

2012 Powell received at Grand Prix status a cockpit in the GP3 Series. Together with Carmen Jordá and Vicky Piria she became the first woman who went to the starting line in this series. Powell scored the first woman to a point in the GP3 Series. At the end of the season it was on the 19th place overall and thus subject to their teammates Marlon Stöckinger and Lewis Williamson, who had both disposal before the season GP3 experience. 2013 Powell was initially no cockpit. Finally, she took on the MSV F3 Cup, a British amateur racing series with Formula 3 vehicles, in part. There, she won five races and was second overall. In addition, she completed guest appearances in the national class of the British Formula 3 Championship. In November she returned to professional racing and took for Bamboo Engineering participate in the final race weekend of the GP3 series.
