Alice is a city in Jim Wells County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States and the county seat ( county seat ).

Geography

The city is located in southeast Texas, about 60 km from the Gulf of Mexico and the Southwest is located about 90 km from Mexico to the east. It has an area of 31.9 km ², of which 1.0 km ² water surface.

History

Alice was founded in 1888 as a bandana and later renamed Kleberg. Then you renamed the town again to Alice, named after the daughter of Richard King, founder of the King Ranch, who built one of the largest ranches ( 600,000 morning or around 2400 square kilometers ).

Religion

In Alice there are 29 different churches from 10 different denominations. Among the belonging to a denomination churches the Baptist church is best represented with 9 churches. Furthermore, there are 10 to no denomination belonging churches ( as of 2004).
