Aliko Dangote

Alhaji Aliko Dangote ( born April 10, 1957 in Kano, Nigeria ) is a Nigerian businessman and the richest man in Africa. His fortune amounted to 11 billion U.S. dollars in March 2012. The Dangote Group is considered the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa.

Life

Dangote was born the son of a wealthy Muslim family in Northern Nigeria. He studied economics at Al- Azhar University in Cairo and was active since 1977 as an importer of rice, sugar and cement. The ascent to billionaire began 1999/2000 under the second presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo with the construction of a sugar refinery and a cement factory. Since then expanded Dangotes Group, among others, it is the largest cement producer in Africa, has production of pasta, sugar, juice, milk, mineral water and salt and has interests in a mobile network as well as to oil fields. For Dangote Group includes 13 companies that are active in 14 African countries.

Dangote lives in Nigeria, where his company has established, and is regarded as down to earth and humble .. He was in 2011 with the Order of the Niger awarded by President Goodluck Jonathan and appointed in the same year in the National Economic Council of Nigeria.
