Alina Cojocaru

Alina Cojocaru (born 27 May 1981 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian ballet dancer. She is a Principal ( principal dancer ) with the Royal Ballet in London.

Cojocaru took from early childhood dance lessons, but without having ever seen a ballet performance. At age nine, she received a scholarship at the ballet school of the Kiev Ballet. Without knowledge of the language, she began her training, after a year got them and their classmates Romanian Russian schools.

After her education in Kiev, she came in 1997 by a scholarship of the Prix de Lausanne at London's Royal Ballet School. 1998 Cojocaru received her first engagement as a soloist at the Kiev Ballet. She became a member soloist with the Royal Ballet in 1999, 2001, she was appointed to Principal Dancer. Alina Cojocaru also appeared as a guest dancer with the Kirov Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, the Hamburg Ballet, the Royal Danish Ballet and the Hungarian National Ballet.

Cojocaru lives with her ​​fiancé, Johann Kobborg, also leading dancers ( principal dancer ) at the Royal Ballet in London, together.
