Alison Krauss

Alison Krauss ( born July 23, 1971 in Decatur, Illinois ) is an American singer, violinist and Fiddlespielerin that has set in bluegrass music in the 1990s new standards. She is also active as a producer.

Biography

The age of five Krauss learned to play the violin and took classical music lessons. However, soon she was tired of classical music and enthusiastic about country and bluegrass licks. At eight years old she began to take part in talent competitions around in and around their hometown of Champaign ( Illinois). Two years later she had her own band. In 1983, she won twelve years, " Illinois State Fiddle Championship", and the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America magazine named the "Most Promising Fiddler " in the Midwest. It was sponsored by Bluegrass "inventor" Bill Monroe.

2007 Alison Krauss learned the former lead singer of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, in preparation for a joint contribution for a "Tribute to Leadbelly " concert know. From this cooperation a common musical project from which the album Raising Sand emerged in October 2007, was born. It was honored in 2009 with five Grammys.
