Alison Shanks

Alison "Ali" Shanks ( born December 13, 1982 in Dunedin ) is a New Zealand cyclist with successes on the track and road.

2005 Alison Shanks graduated with a degree in nutritional science and marketing at the University of Otago. Then they started with the power cycling.

Initial successes celebrated Shanks 2005 at the Oceania games with a third place in the road race and a second in the individual pursuit, their outspoken favorite discipline. This was followed by national titles and podiums at railway World Cup.

In the UCI Track World Championships 2009 at the Polish Pruszków Alison Shanks was world champion in the One - tracking and Vice World Champion in the Team Pursuit ( with Laureen Ellis and Jaime Nielsen ). At the Track Cycling World Cup 2009/2010 they took second place in the overall standings of the One - tracking after the British Wendy Houvenaghel that they had beaten in the World Cup final of 2009. In 2010 she won the gold medal in the individual pursuit at the Commonwealth Games. In the UCI Track World Championships 2011 at Apeldoorn, the Netherlands Shanks finished second in the individual pursuit and together with Kaytee Boyd and Jaime Nielsen third in the team pursuit.

In 2012 she won the bronze medal at the New Zealand Championships in the time trial.
