Alison Steadman

Alison Steadman OBE ( born August 26, 1946 in Liverpool) is a British theater and film actress.

Life

Alison Steadman in 1946 as the daughter of George Percival Steadman, an electrical engineer, and Marjorie Steadman ( née Evans ), a housewife, born in Liverpool. At age 16, she left the Childwall Valley High School and worked as a secretary. From 1966 to 1969 she attended the East 15 Acting School, where she met her future husband, the writer and director Mike Leigh. In 1969 she made ​​her professional stage debut in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie at the Theatre Royal in Lincoln, where she later also played Ophelia in William Shakespeare's Hamlet. In 1973, she stood in Wholesome Glory for the first time in London on the stage.

Abigail's Party (1977 ), a play her husband Mike Leigh, which was later broadcast on television with more than 18 million viewers, Steadman succeeded in the role of Beverly, a haughty beauty therapist, the breakthrough in the UK. From 1973 to 2001 Steadman was married to Mike Leigh. From the marriage were two sons, Toby ( b. 1979 ) and Leo ( b. 1981 ), produced. Since her divorce from Leigh Steadman lives with actor Michael Elwyn.
