Aliveri

Aliveri (Greek Αλιβέρι (n. sg. ) ) Is a city on the island of Euboea. After the incorporation of some smaller towns in 1997 the official name of the city Dimos Tamineon was ( after the former name of the municipality ). This municipality was merged in 2010 with four neighboring communities to the new municipality Kymi - Aliveri, forms the administrative seat in the Aliveri.

The town is located south of Chalkida and Eretria. Due to the industrial nature of the local economy was long prohibited the establishment of tourist facilities. Nevertheless, the town has a number of good pebble beaches, the harbor Karavos has become a popular destination in the region, particularly because of the numerous fish taverns and night spots. The old town is on a hill and is now orphaned, today's town center is in the valley about 1.5 km from the port Karavos.

Power plant Aliveri

Because of the coal deposits in the area, a coal-fired power plant was built on the outskirts on the coast in 1955. The deposits were driven with an industrial railway from the mountain through the village to the power plant. Meanwhile, these are exhausted and the power plant has converted to oil firing.
