Alka Yagnik
Alka Yagnik (Hindi: अल्का यागनिक; born March 20, 1966 in Calcutta, West Bengal ) is an Indian playback singer, who lends her voice for Bollywood productions. It comes from a Gujaratifamilie that deal with classical music.
Biography
Early life
Alkas mother Shubha Yagnik was a singer of Indian classical music and supported their daughter grow up to become a successful singer. So it was that Alka sang with only six years for a radio. As Alka was ten years old her mother brought her to Bombay to try their luck as a playback singer for children's roles in the film world. She was advised to wait till her voice is still immature, but her mother insisted. Then, Alka got a letter in front of Raj Kapoor sing. He is very enthusiastic about her voice and sends it to Laxmikant, a well-known producer. There she is faced with a choice: either she works immediately in the Filmynchronisation or later as a playback singer. She chose the latter.
Career
Alka Yagnik now began Payal Ki Jhankaar for films such as (1979 ), Laawaris (1981) and Hamari Bahu Alka (1982). Her breakthrough creates but until a few years later with the song Ek Do Teen from the film Tezaab (1988). Overnight she became a star, gets for this song her first Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer. Since then, she has won seven Filmfare Awards. Thus it is, next to the famous singer Asha Bhosle, the most frequent winner in this price category. In addition, she has sung as Punjabi, Bengali and Marathi besides Hindi also in other languages .
