The stadium Alkmaarderhout was a football stadium in the Dutch city of Alkmaar and former home of Ehrendivisionärs AZ Alkmaar.

History

Built in 1948 the stadium with a seating capacity of 8,914 seats was initially the home ground of Alkmaarsche Boys, and later of Alkmaar'54 which 1967 with FC Zaanstreek to AZ'67, today's AZ Alkmaar, merged. The stadium was the venue of winning the title in 1980/81 as well as the spectacular catchment in the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in season 2004/05.

The end as a home ground of AZ Alkmaar

The project of the club leadership to modernize the AZ Alkmaar also included the construction of a new stadium. Since the 2006/07 season, the club plays its home games at the AFAS Stadium ( opened in August 2006 as a DSB Stadium ) just off the A9. The last game in Alkmaarderhout was a friendly match between two teams, led by Michael Buskermolen and Barry van Galen, two club legends of AZ who completed their active career after the 2005/06 season.
