All-Poland Alliance of Trade Unions

The Ogólnopolskie Porozumienie Związków Zawodowych (short OPZZ, German All-Poland Trade Union Federation ) was founded on November 24, 1984 on the basis of the Law on Trade Unions of 8 October 1982 by the federation of trade unions Solidarity ( NSZZ ) had been banned. The OPZZ took over the assets of the former Solidarity and belongs since 1985 to the World Federation of Trade Unions. By 1990, the OPZZ of the Polish United Workers' Party ( PZPR ) was strictly subordinate.

After the political changes of 1989 and the dissolution of the PZPR OPZZ 1991-1997 formed an electoral alliance with the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD). At present, are connected together in OPZZ mainly trade unions who are close to the SLD. In February 2003, he belonged to 104 state-wide trade unions and trade unions with a total of about 800,000 members. Of the twelve summarized in OPZZ sectors are the energy and mining industries (mainly coal and copper), the processing industry and the field of education, science and culture most strongly represented.

The supreme governing bodies of the OPZZ are the Congress, the Council, the Executive Committee and the Audit Commission.
