Allan C. Durborow, Jr.

Allan Cathcart Durborow Jr. ( born November 10, 1857 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † 10 March 1908 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1895 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1862 Allan Durborow came with his parents to Williamsport in the state of Indiana, where he attended the public schools. He then attended the Wabash College in Crawfordsville. Subsequently, he studied until 1877 at Indiana University in Bloomington. Until 1880 he lived in Indianapolis, he moved to Chicago. Since 1887 he was managing director of trade magazine Western Electrician. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1890 Durborow was in the third electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William E. Mason on March 4, 1891. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1895 two legislative sessions. In 1894 he gave up another candidacy. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Allan Durborow worked in the insurance industry. In 1902 he applied unsuccessfully to return to Congress. He died on 10 March 1908 in Chicago, where he was also buried.
