Allan, Drôme

Allan is a commune with 1606 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the south of the department of Drôme in the Rhône -Alpes. Allan is about 7 km from Montelimar away.

Attractions

Located high above the village the castle Allan ( Allan Château d' ), which formed the church until the 18th century. It was not until around 1800, the village has settled at the present level. The castle was abandoned in 1857 because it was accessible only bad and settled in the plain economy and residents. In 1878 parts of the castle auctioned off to the new village where it is used to build the church and the town hall. Since that time exists on the Schlossberg in ruins.

In the village there are also remains of Barbara 's Chapel from the 12th century.

Traffic

Since 1994, the SNCF is planning a TGV station on the LGV Méditerranée to build in Allan. This should serve to improve the tourist development. Until today, but was not started with the construction of the station.
