Allan Louisy

Sir Allan Fitzgerald Laurent Louisy KCMG ( born September 5, 1916 in Laborie, Saint Lucia, † March 2, 2011 Laborie, Saint Lucia) was the second Prime Minister of independent Caribbean nation of Saint Lucia.

Career

Louisy served as a judge before he represented his district in Parliament. In the late 1970s, as leader of the Saint Lucia Labour Party, he supported the anti - independence movement of the trade union leader George Odlum. During the first parliamentary elections in Saint Lucia, he won superior and was the first head of government of the new state. On 2 July 1979, he took up the post, but stayed only briefly in this. On 4 May 1981 after his budget was rejected and key members of his cabinet were resigned, he resigned also. His successor was the Attorney General Francis Winston Cenac.
