Allan Peiper

Allan Peiper ( born March 26, 1960 in Alexandra, Victoria ) is an Australian former racing cyclist.

He grew up in difficult circumstances. His father was an alcoholic and prone to domestic violence, while his mother worked as Alleinverdienerin to exhaustion. His grandfather was already a successful cyclist and Allan began at a young age with the sport in which he found the fulfillment that it could not offer the parental home. Averse to formal education, he moved the training often attending school before and became an Australian junior champion in the individual pursuit. Peiper began working in a factory and saved his monthly wages to finance a trip to Europe can. At the age of 16, he finally moved in 1976 in the Belgian city of Ghent. 1982 Peiper joined at an internationally successful sports club from Boulogne- Billancourt and received a year later due to extremely convincing performances a professional contract by the team Peugeot - Shell - Michelin. In the following decade, he secured numerous titles and race wins. Peiper was one of the mentors of the young Mark Cavendish in the early days of his career.
