Allan Peiper

Allan Peiper ( born March 26, 1960 in Alexandra, Victoria ) is an Australian former racing cyclist.

He grew up in difficult circumstances. His father was an alcoholic and prone to domestic violence, while his mother worked as Alleinverdienerin to exhaustion. His grandfather was already a successful cyclist and Allan began at a young age with the sport in which he found the fulfillment that it could not offer the parental home. Averse to formal education, he moved the training often attending school before and became an Australian junior champion in the individual pursuit. Peiper began working in a factory and saved his monthly wages to finance a trip to Europe can. At the age of 16, he finally moved in 1976 in the Belgian city of Ghent. There he came under in a shared room in the house of a butcher, before he was taken shortly after by the family of the two- year-older Eddy Planck Aerts, with whom he mostly trained together in this time. During a later stay in Australia he met Peter Brotherton, who coached him from now on and accompanied his development towards a professional athlete.

1982 Peiper joined at an internationally successful sports club from Boulogne- Billancourt and received a year later due to extremely convincing performances a professional contract by the team Peugeot - Shell - Michelin. In the following decade, he secured numerous titles and race wins. Nowadays Peiper has worked as Cycling Manager and who has played for the team T -Mobile. He was sports director of the team Davitamon -Lotto and 2008, he appeared as one of the team managers in the services of the team HTC -Highroad end of 2006. Peiper was one of the mentors of the young Mark Cavendish in the early days of his career.
