Allegro (auction website)

Allegro is the largest Polish Internet auction platform. Your still dominant market position in Poland can be explained among other things by their early presence of the grid (1999) and the resulting visibility. Also, the company has established since 2006 in the Czech Republic ( Aukro.cz ), Hungary ( TeszVesz.hu ), Russia ( molotok.ru ) and in Ukraine ( Aukro.ua ).

History

Due to the success of eBay animated in the U.S., the auction house QXL Allegro 1999 by Poland, the Polish division, which specializes in Internet Auction Houses British company QXL Ricardo, was founded during the major competitor eBay.pl followed only in 2005.

The fixed assets of Allegro was initially only 4,000 zloty, and the beginning of 2000 counted Allegro so that only 8 employees. Beginning of 2001, working capital was increased to 50,000 zloty, and the end of 2006, the auction house already employed more than 300 employees for service, safety, counseling and other appropriate staff.

2004 Allegro achieved a turnover of 831 million zloty, and in 2005 it was ( with over 25 million transactions ) even 1.5 billion zloty, in 2006, finally ( with approximately 46 million transactions ) from 2.5 billion zloty.

Popularity

The Auction House is cooperating with many Polish websites, for example, the popular Internet portals onet.pl ( in July 2006, the second most visited Internet portal ), Wirtualna Polska ( in July 2006, the third most visited Internet portal ) and Interia.pl ( in July 2006, the fourth- most-visited Internet portal ), but also the website of the media group Agora SA gazeta.pl or nasza - klasa, the second largest web-based social network in Poland.

The market share of Allegro in Poland was in mid-2006 at about 53 percent, compared to ebay.pl had only a share of about 13 percent.

Currently, more than 5 million users are registered solely with Allegro.pl.
