Allen C. Beach

Allen Carpenter Beach ( born October 9, 1825 in Fairfield, Herkimer County, New York, † October 17, 1918 in Rochester, New York ) was an American politician (Democratic Party).

Career

Allen Carpenter Beach graduated in 1848 from Union College in Schenectady. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1852.

After the Civil War he was elected Lieutenant Governor of New York and has held this office 1868-1872. He worked in the years 1878 and 1879 as executive officer ( Secretary of State ). During his re-election attempt in the office, he suffered a defeat in 1879.

It also adopted in 1860 and 1876 as a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in part.

Family

Allen Carpenter Beach was the son of Rev. Allen R. Beach (1797-1879) and Amy Brown Beach (1803 -ca. , 1890). He was married twice, first with Abby A. Woodruff († 1856) and then to Olivia H. Pickering, daughter of Augustus Pickering and Caroline White. With his second wife he had a daughter named Amy.
