Allen County (Kansas)

Allen County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Iola.

Geography

The County is located in Eastern Kansas, is about 40 miles from Missouri away and has an area of ​​1308 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Anderson County, Linn County, Bourbon County, Neosho County, Wilson County, Woodson County and Coffey County.

History

Allen County was formed on 30 August 1855 as original County and one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after William Allen, a U.S. Senator from Ohio.
