History

The company was founded in 1969. After several years of losses, the situation improved after the entrances of Andy Bereza and in quick succession on Ivor Taylor and Andrew Stirling.

In the early 70s Allen & Heath developed a special quadraphonic mixing console for the band Pink Floyd, the one that was used by Alan Parsons to mix their live performances MOD1. The MOD1 is seen in the film Live at Pompeii.

A number of widely accepted design innovations going into the account of Allen & Heath, for example, the practice, potentiometers and switches soldered directly to the circuit boards, they instead with cables to connect. This allowed a modular construction of devices and the easy replacement of individual modules. The company was also the first on the market, the operational amplifier inserting in their products. The CMC console finally connected the first time via a MIDI interface on the mixer with a control computer.
