Allen Hoskins

Clayton Allen " Farina " Hoskins ( born August 9, 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, † July 26, 1980 in Oakland, California ) was an American film actor.

Life

Allen Hoskins is one of the first African-American film actor ever. At the age of two years he was in 1922 in One Terrible Day, an episode of the popular series The Little Rascals, in front of the camera. Until 1933, he participated in 109 episodes and earned $ 250 last week. This made him one of the most successful black actor of his time. His nickname, Farina was rather ironic, since Farina ( Italian for flour ) is a type of flour available in the United States.

After his retirement as Little Tramp in 1933, he was only in five other movies before the camera (most recently 1936), but could not build on the success of the early years. Even as a theater actor, he failed, because you only wanted him to fill in vaudeville productions.

Hoskins fought as a soldier in World War II and retired after completely from the Acting back. He was a social worker and took care in the greater Los Angeles to homeless youth who had problems with drugs and alcohol.

Shortly before his 60th birthday Hoskins died of cancer.
