Allen Ludden

Allen Ludden ( October 5, 1917 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin as Allen Ellsworth, † June 9, 1981 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American presenter and actor.

Life

Allen Ludden studied English and acting at the University of Texas in 1940 and made its conclusion. During the 1940s and 1950s Ludden worked in radio and for various youth magazines. For his radio program Mind Your Manners in 1950 he received a Peabody Award. In October 1961, he went with the Quizzshow Password televised broadcast. Password was very successful and ran intermittently until 1975. The concept has been used by NBC in the 1980s again. The last edition was produced 2007/2008 by CBS with host Regis Philbin.

For his services around TV Allen Ludden was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The star was admitted at the address 6743 Hollywood Boulevard, right next to his second wife Betty White.

Family

1943 married Allen Ludden Margaret McGloin, with whom he had three children. The marriage of the two ended after 18 years with the cancer death of Margaret in October 1961.

After he had already asked for her hand twice, Allen Ludden married in June 1963 the actress Betty White, who he had met during his mission Password. Shortly before her 18th wedding anniversary Allen Ludden died in June 1981 at a gastric carcinoma.
