Allen Woodring

Allen Woodring (* February 15, 1898 in Hellertown, Pennsylvania, † November 15, 1982 in Clearwater, Florida) was an American track and field athlete.

At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp was Woodring Olympic champion over 200 m. Woodring could not initially qualify for the Olympic Games as a Fifth -placed the U.S. qualifying competitions. Shortly before leaving for Belgium him, however, participation in the competitions were allowed instead of the fourth-placed.

From Allen Woodring is narrated that fell shortly after the arrival in Antwerp his running shoes apart and he could procure no new shoes. Ultimately, he borrowed for the duration of the Olympic race shoes of another runner. In them, he was able to prevail against its competitors in the final round on 20 August 1920 and won in 22.0 seconds before the favorites and 100 m Olympic champion Charles Paddock the gold medal.
