Geography

Allen Bach is located between Konstanz and Radolfzell. The nucleus is located directly on the shores of Gnadensee said part of Lake Constance, opposite the island of Reichenau. The total municipal area extends from Gnadensee over the Bodanrück to Lake Überlingen in 397-520 meters altitude.

History

The district Allen Bach was the settlement area already in prehistoric and early historic times, it can be found both prehistoric pile dwellings, as well as traces of the Roman period. The reference of stilt houses in the lido is since 2011 part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps. During the construction of the gas pipeline Rottweil Constance east of the Mind Elsees, close to the west of the Stöckenhofs, parts of the foundation wall of a mansion were cut and exposed in 1979.

Allen Bach was first mentioned in 724 as Alaspach in the founding document of the monastery of Reichenau, whose initial it belonged. The Stone Age dagger of Allensbach

In the winter season 2002/2003 the construction site of a new building was investigated on the Allensbacher campsite of archaeologists from the Center for Underwater Archaeology and wet soil in Hemmenhofen.
