Band History

Prehistory

Petak began his musical career as a drummer in Hermann Nitsch's Theatre of Orgies and Mysteries and as timpani player Michael DeWitt's group Zero Kama. In 1987 he founded together with friends and All Souls' Day was the pseudonym borrowed from the Kabbalah " Kadmon ", after the androgynous primal man Adam qadmon from the Kabbalistic doctrine. Shortly after its foundation, the group dissolved again. 1989 Petak reactivated it again and it builds on as his solo project. There are numerous demo recordings and cassette albums from these two periods.

1989-2000

The first CD named Cruor was published in 1993 and contains only instrumental recordings from the years 1989 to 1993. The influences range from Throbbing Gristle to Tibetan ritual music. With their second album Gotos = kalanda ariosophy catchment received in the work Kadmon. It is a setting of a poem cycle of the SS - group leader and esotericist Karl Maria Wiligut. On the cover is the floor ornament of Wewelsburg, the Black Sun, imaged. The cover was often taken as evidence of the extreme right-wing sentiments of the project, Petak himself refers to the dissonant sounds of the album that bring out his view, the " dark and violent " expression. On an LP release in 2005, he tried by including the song of the prisoner by Ernst Busch to emphasize the " contrapuntal representation " yet.

1997 appeared storm songs, in which Petak refers to the underground film Santa Sangre by Alejandro Jodorowsky, Ernst Jünger, the Kabbalah, Friedrich Nietzsche and alchemy. With Ostara is heard on the album is also a guest singer. With dying and becoming (1999) shows Petak after the two rather changeable predecessors, of a more subtle, gentler side. On the album the Nietzsche poem Ecce Homo was set to music, in addition to references can be found in Leni Riefenstahl's The Firebird and Ernst Jünger The blue light Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky. Pictures of Kenneth Anger's Lucifer Rising and a quote from Jean Baudrillard adorn the booklet.

Since 2000

Neuschwabenland 2000 marked a change in musical style Allerseelens. So Petak describes his musical style now as " fin de siècle military pop". The title was based on the Antarctic expedition of the National Socialists, who baptized there staked out the area Neuschwabenland. Lyrically, however, the work refers to poems by Hermann Hesse and his wife Ninon Hesse, as well as Miguel Serrano and for the umpteenth time on Ernst Jünger. In addition to the guest vocalist Sabine, who has been heard on dying and becoming, also participate in the Kirlian Camera album. The song Where the Wild Things Are is based on the novel of the writer Maurice Sendlak.

Venezia ( 2001) continues the line started with Neuschwabenland and includes neo-classical and jazz elements. 2001 agreed Petak from his pseudonym Kadmon. With Adventurous Heart ( 2002) obtained Spanish music collection elements in the music Petaks. Also on Flame (2003) led All Souls continued on the path. With the last time there is a cover version of a song on the album DAF. With Hallstatt ( 2007), the latest step work of All Souls was published, the title of the album took Petak also as a new pseudonym. In Sturmlied and sun Golthi -Ade sang Josemaria Klumb from Thronstahl. In Edelweiss ( 2005), two songs by Circe, a Catalan music project were. Again, worked again with Klumb.

Controversy

Some critics Souls' Day is said to have a right-wing extremist worldview. In particular, Alfred Schobert from the club Duisburg Institute for Language and Social Research ( DISS ) threw Petak before, through his poetry and music, " the music genre Darkwave use [ to ] to carry [ his ] right-wing ideology " Kadmon and All Souls are also in a brochure of North Rhine-Westphalia Constitution protection as a right-wing related music group called the " Nazi symbolism " pick up on and have " positive references to the leading figures of the right-wing " made . In the 5th edition of the booklet, the passage was canceled. The initiative " goths against law Bremen" examined some texts from Petaks time series, which contains some passages that can be seen as a positive appraisal of Nazi figures such as Karl Maria Willgut and Leni Riefenstahl and the fascist Corneliu Zelea Codreanu and Yukio Mishima. Similarly, the initiative Souls' Day because of his links to Blood Axis, Der Blutharsch and the New Right Verlag Agency Werner Symanek attacks ( VAWS ). The initiative comes to the conclusion that it is Petak not handle a " die-hard admirer of Adolf Hitler " or a " violent Stiefelfaschsiten ," he, however, a " serious and innovative right culture warrior ', which, through a " self-contained new far-right [s ], ethnopluralistische [s ] the world " Concerning operative. An initiative of the Young Socialists tried unsuccessfully in 2005 a concert of the group in the Bavarian Rosenheim to stop. In an opinion, Petak distanced itself from extreme right-wing ideology:

" We believe in the human consciousness and power of art. Our influences are Surrealism, Symbolism, the art of the Pre-Raphaelites. The focus is on the artistic work, the shape and the force personality. We have set to music poems by Rainer Maria Rilke, from Ninon and Hermann Hesse. Ricarda Huch, whose beautiful poem Sturmlied we have already several times set to music, most recently in a flamenco version, was a vehement critic of the Third Reich. From All Souls, there is another flamenco piece sun golthi -ade, which is based on a poem by Friedrich Bernhard Marby runes - this poet was imprisoned in the Nazi period, several years in various concentration camps. Just our love for small countries and regions such as the Basque Country, such as Catalonia, Corsica, Austria, South Tyrol, Slovenia keeps us from totalitarian or authoritarian glorify structures and systems.
