Alliance Graphique Internationale

The Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI ) is an elite club of world-renowned and influential graphic and communication designers. Approximately 420 members from 36 nations therein are committed to high-quality visual communication and are internationally responsible for innovative design and typography in global media.

History

1951 decided two Swiss Graphic Design ( Donald Brun, 1909-1999; Fritz Bühler, 1909-1963 ) and three French graphic artist (Jean Colin, 1912-1982; Jacques Nathan - Garamond, 1910-2001; Jean Picart Le Doux, 1902-1982 ) to reorganize their relations in a kind of club. In 1952 the Alliance Graphique Internationale in Paris was founded with 65 members. The first AGI exhibition took place in Paris in 1955; 1969 pulled the AGI headquarters to Zurich. Most important action of the organization is the annual AGI conference, which is held every year in a different country.
