Allison Danzig

Allison Danzig ( born February 27, 1898 in Waco, Texas, † January 27, 1987 in New Jersey ) was an American sports journalist for the New York Times.

Biography

Danzig was born in Waco (Texas), but grew up in Albany ( New York). After graduating from Cornell University in 1921, he was next to EB White co- editor of the newspaper The Cornell Daily Sun. In 1923 he came to the New York Times, where he remained until his retirement in 1967. Before he became a sports journalist, he wrote obituaries and supposed to be a foreign correspondent.

Allison Danzig was known for his many years reporting around the sport of tennis ( 1927-1967 ). He was inducted in 1968 as the first journalist in the International Tennis Hall of Fame for this service.
