Allison White

Allison White ( born December 21, 1816 in Pine, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, † April 5, 1886 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1857 and 1859 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Allison White attended the public schools of his home and then the Allegheny College in Meadville. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he started in Lock Haven to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1856 White was in the 15th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Jamison Pearce on March 4, 1857. Since he has not been confirmed in 1858, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1859. This was marked by the events leading up to the Civil War. During his time as a Congressman White was chairman of the Committee for the control of expenditure on public property.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he worked in Philadelphia in the wood and coal business. There he is on the April 5, 1886 also died.
