Allochtoon

As Allochthon (Greek ἄλλος ( allos: other, different) and χθών ( Chthon: Earth ) ) is called in the social sciences people of foreign origin or descent.

The antonym of " allochthonous " is " autochthonous ". While the term " indigenous " refers to those minorities that have arisen due to endogenous political- historical processes, is meant by " allochthonous minorities " are those that have arisen exogenously due to hikes, expulsion or labor migration.

Netherlands

In the Netherlands, someone as allochthonous ( allochtoon ) is referred to when he was born, or even at least one parent abroad. The Dutch Statistical Office expects those to the allochthonous who live in the Netherlands and of whom one parent was born abroad, at least. ( The German term " people with a migration background " includes people who have moved even after 1950 after Germany, or at least one parent. )

Among the non - Western group those to be expected, which have their origin in Turkey, Africa, Latin America or Asia - this does not count the former Niederländisch-Indien/Indonesien and Japan. All other persons who do not have their origin in the Netherlands are called western allochthonous.

A distinction is still the first of the second generation of allochthonous. The first generation consists of people born abroad themselves. The second generation, however, is born in the Netherlands and has at least one parent that was not born in the Netherlands. A child of parents who both belong to the second generation is referred to as indigenous. Also as indigenous people are called who were born abroad, whose parents were born but in the Netherlands.

The group of origin of the first generation of allochthonous will be determined by country of birth, the second generation on the basis of country of birth of the mother, if it was not born in the Netherlands, otherwise, by country of birth of the father.
