The Allstate Arena is a sports arena in Rosemont in Cook County of the U.S. state of Illinois. Is used the arena of sports teams from the Chicago 30 miles away and is about 5 kilometers north of O'Hare International Airport, the largest airport in Chicago. Every year there are some 150 events in the building.

History

After the start of construction in 1977 the building was completed in 1980, was as a venue for the Chicago Cougars (WHA ), and should bear the name O'Hare Sports Arena. Due to financial difficulties, the owner of the Cougars were unable to secure the financing of the construction. The land bought by the city Rosemont with the aid of bonds and long- term utilization (eg, the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, MFG International or Araserv ) and built on it the Rosemont Horizon.

Currently, the Allstate Arena, home of the Chicago Wolves ( AHL ), the Chicago Rush ( AFL), the Chicago Sky of the WNBA Women's Basketball League and the basketball team the Chicago DePaul University, DePaul Blue Demons the ( NCAA). Furthermore wore the Chicago Horizon ( MISL, 1980-1981), the Chicago Sting ( MISL, from 1984 to 1988 ), the Chicago Bruisers (AFL, 1987-1989) and the Chicago Skyliners, (ABA, 2000-2002) their games Rosemont from.

On 14 August 1979, the roof of the completed 90% of multi-purpose hall collapsed. This five construction workers were killed and 16 others were injured. On July 2, 1980, the inauguration of the sports arena took place. The first event was a concert of the musical group Fleetwood Mac and found March 14, 1980 before the official opening instead. In 1999, the Allstate Insurance Company paid 30 million dollars for the naming rights and the renovation of the multi-purpose hall. In 2003, the basketball court was named Ray and Marge Meyer Court after Ray Meyer, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, and his wife, Marge. Ray Meyer was 1942-1984 basketball coach at DePaul University. On 17 August 2009, the WNBA team the Chicago Sky and the operators of the Allstate Arena agreed a multi-year contract for the use of the hall.

Events

The Allstate Arena is adjacent to the Madison Square Garden in New York, the only venue where the WWE Wrestlemania wrestling tournament three times (1986, 1997, 2006) was a guest. Other tournaments of the WWE as Judgement Day in 2009 or Night of Champions 2010 took place in Rosemont. Until the mid- 1990s, the Allstate Arena, home of WCW events in Chicago was inaugurated until 1994 the United Center with more than 20,000 seats. In the years 2006 and 2008, the Built Ford Tough Series was to see the international Bull Riders Professional Bull Riders organization in Rosemont.
