Allsvenskan (bandy)

The Bandyallsvenskan is the second highest league in Sweden Bandysport after the Elitserien. Until the 2006/07 season she was the highest league.

Game Mode to 2007

The first Bandyallsvenskan was launched on January 6, 1931. By 2007, the league was split into a Nordallsvenskan and a southern group with 8 teams. It played each team twice against every other team (home and away ). After the order of all matches of the north or south group was clear (about Christmas / New Year), the four highest ranked of the two groups played in the so-called Elitserien. The four last placed both groups also played in a league of its own, the Superallsvenskan.

In the Elitserien teams first played against each (but only once). Then it was a knockout system (quarter and semi-finals ) until the finalists were determined, which are then played for the Swedish Championship. The teams ranked five to eight of the Elitserien had previously a round against the top four of the Superallsvenskan play.

Game mode after 2007

There have been increasing efforts to abolish Bandyallsvenskan to create a pan- Swedish Bandyliga (without the knock-out system ). With the introduction of the Elitserien with the start of the 2007/08 season, the second point was met. The Bandyallsvenskan was retained and initially consisted of three groups ( north, center, south). For the 2009/10 season will be played in only one north and one south group.
