Allyl cyanide is a colorless liquid with an unpleasant odor. Your flash point is 23 ° C, the ignition temperature at 455 ° C. An isomeric compound is the crotononitrile.
History
Allyl cyanide Will and W. Körner was first discovered in 1863 by H. mustard oil. For the first time it was synthesized in 1864 by A. Claus or in pure form in 1871 by A. Rinne and B. Tollens from allyl iodide and potassium cyanide.
Synthesis
Allyl cyanide can be produced by reaction of allyl bromide with copper ( I) cyanide.
