Almendralejo

Almendralejo ( extremadurisch Almendralehu or Almendraleju ) is a town in the Spanish province of Badajoz in the autonomous community of Extremadura. Almendralejo is the administrative seat and largest city of the comarca of Tierra de Barros and the Council, which governs the designation of origin of the wine region of Ribera del Guadiana seat.

Almendralejo with 35 101 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) is the fourth largest city in the province of Badajoz, and the sixth largest in the Extremadura.

87.8 % of its inhabitants are native of Spain, 80.5 % from Extremadura, 79.6 % of the province of Badajoz, and 49.1% from Almendralejo. The population growth is 2.7 % (average 2001-2008 ).

The population is male to 52.3% and 47.7 % female.
