Almonte (river)

Bridge the A-66 over the Almonte

The Almonte is a left tributary of the Tagus and about 97 km long. It rises in the northern part of the Sierra de Guadalupe in the province of Cáceres. Its course always results in a northwesterly or westerly direction through mostly uninhabited area. 7 km south of Garrovillas de Alconétar he finally flows into the Tagus. Of the two Roman bridges at the confluence remains of Puente de Alconétar over the Tagus are still preserved.
