Almorox

Almorox is a municipality of 2376 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) in the Spanish province of Toledo of Castile -La Mancha Autonomous Region. The leading from Madrid to Lisbon -West motorway A 5 passes 20 km south of Almorox. The town lies on the N403 is on the south- eastern foot of the Sierra de Gredos.

Spanish Civil War

The two and a half miles south of the village and east of the N -403 lying Aeródromo served during the Spanish Civil War times, parts of the hunt group 88 of the German Legion Condor airfield. In February / March 1937, here was their 2nd season ( 2./J88 ), the first to use the then-new season of the J/88 Bf -109 got here.
