Work

The images and objects of Alois Lichtsteiner - whether it is birch images to vessels or to mountain pictures - neither image nor abstraction. What we see is concrete. It is always at the same time what it is, so brush strokes / color on an image body and what it means, for example, Snow on mountain slopes and locations where it is melted.

Alois Lichtsteiner does not, therefore forth mountains, birch, or vessels; he always thinks only the painting itself, a skin- covered body, a body image that is covered with skin color. The sensual perception of the world through the skin makes Lichtsteiner on the concept of his painting. It only changes the view to examine another side of the same thing over and over again. It is about the fundamental issues of painting.

The various cycles of works " The contents of the vessels ", " birch ", or "mountain" experience in the course of their treatment, a survey design, without making the picture pretends to be something other than a body, covered with a layer of skin color. In the reduced combination of white and gray forms, eg can at the mountain images without illustrating, are envisioned a monumental diversity of the high mountains conceptual and sensual. You experience downright the emptiness and silence, you can feel the cold or the reflected light on the surface, you will be covered by this feeling of exposure.
