Alojz Tkáč

Alojz Tkáč ( born March 2, 1934 in Ohradzany, Okres Humenné, Slovakia) is Archbishop Emeritus of Košice.

Life

Alojz Tkáč received on 25 June 1961, and was ordained priest incardinated in the Clergy of the Diocese of Košice.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 14 February 1990 Bishop of Košice. He received his episcopal consecration of the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Cardinal Jozef Tomko, on 17 March of the same year; Co-consecrators were Ján Sokol, Archbishop of Trnava, and Ján Chryzostom Korec SJ, Bishop of Nitra.
