Alpha Capricorni

Algiedi (also Al Giedi, Algedi; Arab الجدي, DMG al - ǧadī, the goat ' or the child ') is the proper name of the star α Capricorni ( Alpha Capricorni ).

Algiedi is a separable even with the naked eye double star ( angular separation 6.4 ') similar to Mizar and Alcor. However, the two components of Algiedi are at different distances, it is therefore an optical double star before. The western of the two stars who likes bright 4.2 alpha1 Capricorni is of spectral type G3 Ib and 1500 light years away from Earth, while the more easterly of the two stars, the 3.6 m bright alpha2 Capricorni of spectral type G9 III, 120 light years is "only" from Earth.
