Alphadi

Seidnaly Sidhamed ( born June 1, 1957 in Timbuktu; Artist name: Alphadi ) is a Nigerien fashion designer.

Life

Seidnaly Sidhamed grew up in Niger. He studied tourism in Paris and attended evening classes at the Atelier Chardon Savard Paris fashion school. After studying Sidhamed first worked in a managerial position for the Nigerien Ministry of Tourism in Niamey. In 1983, he was at a fashion show in Paris under the pseudonym Alphadi his international breakthrough as a fashion designer.

Services

The fashion style of Alphadi combines traditions of the Nigerien ethnic groups Songhai, Zarma, Fulani, Hausa and Tuareg with European influences. In 1998, Alphadi the African Fashion Festival Festival International de la Mode Africaine ( FIMA ) in Niger. He was awarded the French Order of Merit of Chevalier de l' Ordre national du Mérite in 2001.
