Alphonse-Atoll

The Alphonse Atoll in the Indian Ocean, 7 ° south of the equator and 450 km southwest of Mahé, the largest island of the Seychelles. It is the lesser of two atolls of the Alphonse Group (based on the total area, but the larger by land area), which in turn is counted among the " Outer Islands " of the Seychelles. The atoll was discovered on January 26, 1730 by Knight Alphonse de Pontevez, commander of the frigate Le Lys.
