Alphonso Jackson

Alphonso Roy Jackson ( born September 9, 1945 in Marshall, Texas) was the 13th Minister of Construction of the United States. He declared on 31 March 2008 his resignation, which became effective on April 14, 2008. Jackson was succeeded by Steve Preston.

Born in Texas, grew up in a family with Jackson 12 children. He acquired a bachelor's degree in political science (1968) and a master's in school administration from Truman State University in 1973 and a law doctorate ( JD) degree from the Washington University School of Law.

Career

1977 Alphonso Jackson was responsible for the public safety of the city of St. Louis as well as managing the St. Louis Housing Authority. During his time there he was also assistive professor at the University of Missouri and later head of the Department of Public and Assisted Housing ( "the Office of Public and Assisted Living " ) in Washington

From January 1989 to July 1996 was Jackson President and CEO of the Housing Authority of Dallas. Later he became President of TEXAS, a large supply company based in Austin and got in 1995 by Governor George W. Bush a seat on the board of the Texas Southern University assigned, a position he held from 2003 to the Minister on his appointment.
