Alps Denki K. K. (Japaneseアルプス電気.株式会社, Arupusu denki kabushiki - gaisha, Eng. Alps Electric Co., Ltd. ) is a Japanese company based in Tokyo.

Description

The company is listed on the Nikkei 225 equity index. Alps manufactures components, modules and devices in the electronics industry for the consumer goods and automotive industries.

The company is divided into the following divisions:

  • Automotive: On-board Electronics
  • Home, Mobile and Industry: switches, potentiometers, sensors, inter alia,
  • Mechatronics, Materials and Process: Production Technology

The subsidiary Alpine produces car radios, speakers, amplifiers and navigation systems for vehicle applications.

In the consumer sector Alps switches are known in higher-quality mechanical Apple and PC keyboards, have often been cloned or manufactured under license and are currently, however, no longer produced by Alps.

History

The company was founded on November 1, 1948 under the name of Kataoka Denki KK (片 冈 电 気 株式会社) was founded.
