To the west it borders on Hedem (district of Prussian Oldendorf ) and east of the hamlet of Stockhausen and the industrial area of Luebbecke ( core city). To the north is bordered Alswede Espelkamp and the Midland Canal. The Große Aue flows immediately to the west of the village, and the Small floodplain flows immediately to the east of the village. The Alsweder area itself, however, is traversed by the Alsweder Bach. To the south, the Alsweder break, which mostly lies on the field Blasheims. With 495 inhabitants per km ², the town has a relatively high population density. The reason for this is that are in the area this size as the smallest part of the city, besides the actual housing estate just open hallways.

Village image

With the new development of commercial and industrial consisted in Alswede in the 50's a large demand for housing, which could be satisfied by the conversion of farmland to urban land in the village center. So Alswede extended through the close settlement of a central region in space is not sufficient, but grew inward. This meant that the earlier formative agriculture soon only played a minor role, and in the center is barely recognizable. The area of the village is relatively scarcely wooded. In the area there are seven small forests, the largest of which comprises 2.5 hectares and is located in the extreme northeast corner of the village. In the Southwest, however Alswede is immediately adjacent to the large Hollwinkeler wood. With regard to the boundary line a few hundred meters wide corridor area in the northwest in the course of the Mittelland Canal is striking, which Alswede even immediately adjacent to the core city of Luebbecke in the far west. However, the unusual boundary line is only a rather random sequence of demarcation on the Mittelland Canal as part of local government reform in 1973, Alswede backs but one, albeit small, proportion of the nature reserve Rough Horst - Shepherd meadows.

History

In the Middle Ages, the counts of Tecklenburg possessed significant real property in space Alswede. The St. Andrew's Church, a tecklenburgische Foundation was first mentioned in 1240 and with it the real place Alswede. The Tecklenburger exercised the patronage of the church until 1707, before the county passed to Brandenburg- Prussia. Approximately in 1856 the estate districts Benkhausen, Ellerburg, Hollwinkel and Hüffe were spun. The community Alswede consisted of the peasantry Alswede, Fiestel or crocheted rings. Through the municipal reform on 1 January 1973, the peasantry were separated and Alswede was incorporated into the city Luebbecke. Fiestel or crocheted rings were added to the city Espelkamp.

Effects of the local government reform

In a way Alswede was hit particularly hard by the local government reform. While other communities, the historical boundaries were considered in the manner by which areas were closed assigned to one or the other city (eg the community Blasheim was closed assigned Luebbecke or Hedem including parts of municipalities north of the Mittelland Canal at Prussian Oldendorf attached ) were both Office Alswede and the community smash downright. Although Alswede was after all a district Lübbeckes, however, includes only the center of the village and the few south of the Mittelland Canal lying areas of the former township. A compensation by incorporation nearby surrounding areas, as extensively received at the expense of the former township areas Blasheim with Stockhausen, that was not even an independent municipality itself before, and now raised to the district, did not take place. So even the lying immediately south of Alswede areas remained ( Blasheimer break) blasheimisch and Alswede is now not only the most peripheral, but also the smallest surface area Lübbeckes. The village was the main church site in the Official Alswede based in Fiestel, the six other municipalities ( Lashorst, Hedem, Vehlage, Fiestel, Fabbenstedt or crocheted rings ) and the manors Hüffe, Hollwinkel, Ellerburg and Benkhausen were assigned. Alswede was to give victims of the will of the Government of the City Luebbecke with the channel a clearly defined city boundary to the north. These grown structure was destroyed by the local government reform in 1973, the cut old ties of the village and only the nucleus Alswede associated with the city Luebbecke, the other areas of Altgemeinde and the Office of the towns Pr Oldendorf and Espelkamp. Alswede This was in an isolated position as an outsider on the edge of the new city Luebbecke. As an example, you can make these effects in schools significantly. Shortly before the municipal reform a new central school for the towns and Fiestel Alswede near the Good Benkhausen was built in the Official Alswede. With the local government reform, the Alsweder respect had to reorient twice on the school, once the village school in Alswede itself and to nearby new school center in Benkhausen and then suddenly in a completely new direction south to Blasheim to which there are few historical ties gave and this is about four kilometers away.
