Alt Meteln
Old Meteln is a municipality in the northern part of the North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Lützow - Lübstorf, located in the municipality of Lützow.
Geography
The community of Old Meteln located 15 kilometers north of Schwerin in a ground moraine, tower above the hills the mirror of Lake Schwerin in the east and the valley of the upper Stepenitz in the west about 30 meters. The Aubach flows through the municipal area towards Schwerin. The highest elevation is the Aland mountain with 74 m above sea level. NN in the district of New Meteln.
At Old Meteln include the districts Alt Meteln expansion, Böken, Grevenhagen, yard Meteln, Moltenow and New Meteln.
History
Old Meteln was first mentioned documentary in 1284, when the Count of Schwerin Helmold several villages, including metle (Alt Meteln ) by the bishop Hermann von Schwerin took a fief. At the end of the Thirty Years' War, many Höf lay desolate. When after 1690 the first farms were reoccupied, there were in the village next to a forge and a jug also a Forsthof.
The village church was built as a Gothic brick church in the second half of the 13th century. Instead of a church tower stands on the west side of a wooden belfry with three bells.
The kindergarten, primary school sports hall, youth club in the old parish barn that has been newly renovated, and the club life make Old Meteln an attractive place to live. The old village center and the listed buildings have been renovated in recent years, Old Meteln but can get much of its village character. A museum courtyard with a cottage garden, an oven and a reciprocating saw is under construction.
Incorporations
Yard Meteln and Moltenow were incorporated on July 1, 1950. Böken heard since the 13 June 2004 Old Meteln community.

The connection point Bobitz Interstate 20 is located about ten kilometers from Old Meteln away, the neighboring community Lübstorf is located on the main road 106 from Wismar to Schwerin as well as the parallel railway line Ludwigslust -Wismar.
