Altare

Altars ( in the Ligurian: Arta ) is a parishioners 2154 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian region of Liguria. Politically, it is located in the province of Savona.

Geography

Altars located in the Val Bormida of the Ligurian Apennines. On the Territotium the municipality is located, at the end of Viale de Caroli, the Bocchetta di Altare. This marks the border between the Ligurian Alps and the Apennines. From the provincial capital Savona altar is about 14 kilometers away. The highest point of the municipality is the Bric Baraccone with 821 meters above sea level. Another important highlight is the Monte Burot ( 745 meters) on the top of which is a fortress from the 19th century. Near the altar Bormida, a tributary of the Tanaro flows.

The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana Alta Val Bormida.

According to the Italian classifications for seismic activity, the community of zone 4 was assigned. This means that the altar is located in a seismically active zone little.

Climate

The municipality is classified under climate category E, since the number of degree days has a value of 2264. This means that in Italy legally regulated heating season is between October 15 and April 15, for 14 hours each day.
